As an artist, my goal is to set up systems of logic. I hold that painting and drawing are, unlike other forms, some of the purest repositories of simulation. The viewer, in seeing the image, accepts the rules, problems, etc. of the image, and submits to a sort of tyranny in the process, a temporary aesthetic domination (if you will). Using this position, I use the logic of the picture plane in order to disassemble the logic of the simulations and narratives that surround us, and rebuild them in order to produce syzygys, paradoxes, and contradictions, snipping away the fabric of the veneer surrounding us, and making paper dolls.
